Following a year-long review of the College of Arts and its Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree, the university has unveiled its vision for the future of the embattled college. Released at the end of January, the proposed future is a radical transformation of the college and, if approved, would see the loss of 21 full-time staff, a merger of several schools, and the closure of two entire departments—American Studies, and Theatre and Film Studies.

“If even one person reads our posters, our message will be made”, joked Toby, as he taped down one of his white posters to the glass doors of the UCSA as others scattered posters throughout the building. Toby, a third-year Computer Science student who did not want his full name printed, only discovered the groups behind the campaign mid-Monday, and racked his brains to find a way to have fun with it. “It’s too much of a good opportunity to pass off … to make a joke.”

At the end of this year, UCSA President Warren Poh will walk away from his position having received one of the highest university student association presidential salaries in the country.
